This line of thought is so inaccurate.

Goodness, so when I break my leg with no insurance, I have to pay 3 grand. But if I had affordable healthcare, it somehow paints a picture that my broken leg is somehow regulated as if I had insurance, and now the gubment has infiltrated my body?

Government-funded health care would give government the authority and rationale to tax any of them into oblivion as health risks.

Marijuana should be legal in all 50 states. I've never used it in my life but there's no logical reason for it to be illegal.

Is that something you've concocted in your head? How in the ever loving hell are you convinced any of those things would happen?

Goodness, how scared are you?

ETA: 90 percent of those listed are already government regulated...

I was all for Michelle Obamas lunch plan for elementary schools. That was one of the big things Trump got rid of that I didn’t like. The shite our kids (and adults) are fed today is poison.

Having said that, I’m not sure if it’s a democratic stance or not but a lot of this poor nutrition is coming from a subsidized corn industry. We need to quit incentivizing corn to be grown bc there’s a lot of terrible things coming from that nutritionally.

I don't see occupational safety as strictly a Democratic issue and not a Republican issue, but it was certainly something they supported strongly. Both parties came together to create OSHA, but the Democratic version of the law was stricter. It passed the House 310-58 and the Senate 83-3, so many members apparently didn't vote. It may not be perfect, and creating more bureaucracy isn't a good thing, but in general the idea of protecting workers from unsafe conditions, exposure to dangerous substances, etc., is a good thing. Maybe OSHA has been over the top at times with regulations though.

So is the VA for vets. The vast majority go elsewhere. Why do you think that is?

Not disagreeing with everything you wrote, but a lot of the corn being incentivized to be grown is for ethanol. A lot more is feed corn for livestock.

As far as the lunches, as someone who has worked in high schools, I've seen first hand a couple of observations. First, there was sort of a one-size-fits all approach, and lots of HS kids who play sports, march in the band, are cheerleaders, on the dance team, etc, burn lots of calories after school. In many cases, the mandated lunches weren't enough.

Second...again, as someone who has seen massive piles of green beans dumped in the garbage any given day...making a lunch healthier is pointless if kids don't actually eat it. There has to be a balance between nutrition and being appetizing.

You ever heard of a slippery slope analogy?

Just like they would never regulate incandescent light bulbs, gas stoves, or ICE vehicles out of existence? It’s happening incrementally right in front of our eyes!
