Malik Nabers has a legitimate chance to break LSU's all-time receptions record this season.

Wendell Davis holds the current record at 183 receptions. After Nabers' big game on Saturday, he currently sits at 166 receptions. That leaves him 18 receptions shy of breaking the record. He'd need to average six receptions per game to do it. His lowest reception total in a game this season where the starters played all four quarters is 6.

Quite a feat for a record that's been held for 36 years.

He's 416 yards shy of breaking Josh Reed's all-time receiving yards mark as well. That one may be a little harder, but it's not out of the question. He'd need to average 139 yards receiving per game to do it. He's gone over this amount in three games this season.

Just a little positivity on a Tuesday to break up the meltdowns.

They do count, but I am assuming he would not play in a bowl. He's starting to pop up in the first round in mock drafts.

It will be a shame if he gets robbed of the biletnikoff

He is being mocked around 10-15 range right now in the first round.

I'd bet on him playing in the bowl game if it meant breaking those records.

Marvin Harrison Jr. is going to be coronated with the postseason awards and Heisman invite.

If Nabers were to break both records, that could shake things up.

Nabers has had a much better year (can you imagine Malik going 4 for 25 against Rutgers?), but these awards don't always go to the most deserving player.

I hope he breaks both records. He has had a fantastic year and deserves all the recognition and awards.

They would for Nabers. They didn't for Reed and Davis, among others.

Reed had a monster bowl game, too. He still holds the SEC's single season ypg record, but he only had 12 games counted in his official stats for 2001 (11 reg season + SECCG), whereas guys like Chase and Devonta Smith had 15.

Nabers's is on pace for a Top 5 season by a WR in LSU history.

66 receptions (#9)
1,152 yards (T-#6 with OBJ)
10 TDs (T-#9)

Lagniappe:
Some light plagiarism from the Game Notes vs Florida that LSU released this week.

quote:

• Daniels is 1 of only 2 players (other in Dan LeFevour of Central Michigan) in FBS history with 11,000-passing yards and 2,000-rushng yards in career. In 52 career games, Daniels has thrown for 11,729 yards and rushed for 2,857 yards.

quote:

WR Malik Nabers has caught a pass in 27 straight games and leads the nation in receiving yards with 1,152 on 66 receptions. He’s only the second player in LSU history with two 1,000-yard seasons joining Josh Reed, who did it in 2000 and 2001. Nabers had 1,017 yards on 72 receptions in 2022.

He is 1,000% going to get fricked over.

The media has a serious fetish for MHJ.
