Hudl
He plays defensive line, he played DT his freshman and most of his sophomore year, but they recently move him to NT. Brody Soileau goes by Shooter.

That’s awesome. I’ll add a couple things of note that can help during the process.

1) Grades: sometimes if a kid is a crazy blue chipper, schools will make things work but the majority of the time, you gotta have the grades right. I used to be in coaching and the amount of kids we had that had to go to some JUCO in the frickin Dakotas because of grades was mind numbing.

2) Discipline: oftentimes, your head coach can be a great option by using his contacts to get people to look at a kid. He’s gotta be a good kid though. Lots of bridges have been burned with colleges because a HSHC pumped up a kid to a college who took him and he ended up being a turd. Make sure he isnt getting written up and that discipline sheet stays clean.

3) Camps: try to make as many camps as you can in the summer that the coach will allow. I think LSU lets all the state coaches come to their camp to evaluate kids. Have him in those camps so he can be on display.

4) HUDL highlights: this echoes off of point #2 a little bit. If your HC has good contacts, he can send them over the film and they’ll be more likely to actually look at it. Try to get the emails of coaches at colleges that he has a realistic shot of being a take at and send them his film often.

5) Be realistic: we had kids oftentimes that wanted to be LSU, Alabama, Georgia, USC type kids but realistically were LC, ULL, Tech, Southeastern type guys. If your kid isn’t good enough to play in the SEC, spend time sending tape to schools he could realistically play at.

6) Focus on Friday nights: I’ve seen it too many times where kids were so worried about getting signed that they became cancers on their own teams and didn’t perform like they needed to on Fridays. I can’t stress this point enough, if your son makes plays on Fridays and maybe even gets some recognition (all district, player of the weeks, all state) it can go a long way in getting him noticed. If your son has the grades, he’s not a character risk AND he’s got good tape, colleges notice.

Like anything else in life, who ya know plays a big role. So definitely hit the camp circuits in the off-season, go to the Nicholls camp for linemen in the summer. The more connections y’all make, the better chance he has to get noticed. And always always always take care of the things you can like getting good grades and staying out of trouble.
