How long before the Heisman voting is changed going forward? BTW.... NO, Penix did not deserve to win the Heisman this year.

They didn't change it when Vince Young solo'd USC for the title and Bush ended up vacating his, so why would it change now?

Fewer people would care about the Heisman if they move it to after the season because most fans are checked out by then.

It should be changed with the playoff expanding. Eventually it will expand to the point where they have no choice, if its not there now.

Why are LSU fans being such bitches about this? They aren't going to change it and Daniels deservedly won.

Just because i asked a question Francis... that doesn't mean i don't believe JD deserved the Heisman. He ABSOLUTELY deserved it.

I do know that many believe that it should be more based on wins and losses... which is BS.

Heisman goes to the best player in college football.

It makes sense to do it at the end of the regular season when everyone plays the same amount of games…

So it’ll just be the award for the best player among the final 2 or 4 teams then.

Jayden Daniels wouldn’t have won it if this year was a 12 team playoff with Heisman voting after the playoff. Penix would’ve had 16 games vs Daniels 13 when votes were cast

This. Heisman voting already suffers enough from recency bias as it is. With the 12 team playoff, it will go to a player in the final four over 95% of the time.

No it should not. These awards are regular season awards across all sports. They can add in some new playoff MVP award for the postseason if they want. The Heisman will never be expanded to include the playoffs.

They should have changed it the year after Gino Tarretta won.

If that didn’t happen after Tommie Frazier/Eddie George, it’s never happening.

The “Penix got robbed” crowd is awfully quiet tonight. He over threw his WR on what would’vs been an easy TD and didn’t see a wide open WR that would’ve scored on another

It probably would be that way but it shouldn't. I think when there are 3 or 4 playoff games depending on your seed that those contain some important context for voters. Plus you're going to have a shorter and less meaningful regular season eventually assuming there is further expansion (and if $$$ is an indicator, there will be).

You sure about that?

Voters can use per game stats and obviously see Daniels had a better statistical season.
