Tagging on, because I'd like to order a king cake for my company. I grew up on Meche's king cakes out of Lafayette. The ones that are deep fried and soaked in glaze. Do any of these king cakes compare to that, or are all of these baked/dry? Shipping it to Colorado, so any bread products become extra dry here.

I just ordered one from the Meche’s in Lafayette and it was “ok” at best. The Meche’s in Morgan City was waaaay better when it was open. M Randazzo’s had already stopped selling for the year..dammit.

Meche's and the rest of the 337/Acadiana king cakes are all donut-like, which is not the case for the rest of the state as far as I've seen. Randazzo's is very soft, so not sure what the change will be like if it makes it to CO. They're usually placed in a bag then inside a box. The bag is sealed but it isn't vacuum sealed because it would ruin the frosting.
