Craft beer is in correction mode, and also experiencing the end result of governments covid actions. We are seeing/about to see a large swing int he other direction, a lot more brewery closings, and then you'll see a resurgence in a year or 2 to get back up to equilibrium which is about where we are now.
Gimmicks, shite beer, and opportunists won't survive, but in the end, i think craft beer will come out stronger.
Maybe we can get some decent domestic lagers on the shelves instead of 72628929377281 hazy IPAs.

Baileson is an awesome neighborhood spot. I think the breweries that will survive will do so because they’re actually fun to drink at. The sterile environment breweries won’t last.

How’s 8th Wonder, Lou?
My buddy is doing the THC seltzers for them. With the Howdy brand

2 sizable houston area breweries went down in the last month
Buffalo Bayou made about 104 different beers, and none of the ones I tried made me want to purchase it again. Instead of making that many different beers, they should have taken the route of a place like Eureka Heights and focus on making two or three really good quality beers that people would want to keep buying, then start experimenting at the pub.
Just my unprofessional opinion. I only drink beer. Don’t brew it or sell it.

To this day, one of the best IPA's i've ever had was from here. It was their Hop Explorer 12 (or 15, i don't remember which). This was probably 5 or 6 years ago if not longer. From what i understand, the brewer at the time ended up going over to the Urban South location in Houston.

Yep…he’s now in San Diego at Seek IIRC

This.
There was one summer where they came out with a different DIPA every week or every other week. It was all delicious stuff, but that was when they had that really good head brewer.

That stinks that Ingenious shut down. It was a really good brewery.

Someone here commented at the time of the name change that it was doomed because Dixie was meh beer that people still bought largely for nostalgia reasons. Change the name, lose the nostalgia factor, lose the sales. I think that poster was correct.
I don't know if that poster was me, but I said that EXACT thing when it was announced Dixie was changing its name in the great "Woke" revival of 2020.
The product itself wasn't particularly unique or distinctive. The value of the brand was recognition and nostalgia of the name. Change that, and the product becomes just another nondescript product in a sea of (seemingly) ever growing new beer brands. Companies work hard and spend millions to gain widespread name recognition. The dumbass owners VOLUNTARILY destroyed all of that, over 100 years of name recognition, all in the name of vapid virtue signaling. No one who regularly purchased Dixie beer was suddenly going to stop doing so post 2020 because of the name. Conversely, no one (relatively speaking) who didn't drink Dixie beer was suddenly going to start buying it because of the name change.
Bud Light kind of learned the same lesson recently. Their product was not No.1 in the US because it was such a unique product. It was No. 1 because of availability and name recognition. Unnecessarily give your customers a reason to switch to another nondescript lager beer and....they will!
Here's a marketing/business lesson. When your value of your product is tied almost exclusively to name recognition...don't change the ONE thing that makes your product valuable!

Buffalo Bayou never made sense. Bad beer, bad food, and a giant space for a brewery that was never particularly popular. It’s a great spot so hopefully something worthwhile takes over.

Seems they limited their target customers with beers that were loaded with adjuncts. I’m an IPA drinker, but I’m not buying these milkshake and fruit infused IPAs. Their stouts (at least what I’d see on the HEB shelves) were also loaded with heavy sweet stuff more times than not.

I'm not a beer drinker, but sometimes you have to make do.
UGA grad who went to numerous Sugar Bowls in the past. I like beer when I'm eating fried/greasy food. I can't remember what year it was, but I ordered a Budweiser with my soft shell sandwich and they gave me this can that was the circumference of a Coors and the height of a regular can.
The waiter said, "Just get a Dixie". 16 oz. It's beer.

I used to enjoy drinking Dixie beer. When they changed the name I intentionally stopped drinking it. Play stupid games and win stupid prizes. I'm glad to see them pay for such a gutless move.
