Coming from a family with several recovering alcoholics, I really think it’s genetic. My dad was a raging alcoholic for years when I was younger, but he’s been sober now over 25 years. I never had “the bug” and can regularly drink a few drinks several times a week, and have no need to keep going or get drunk. My dad would literally drink 20-30 beers within two hours.
Maybe I’m wrong, but that’s what I’ve always thought (that genetics play a role) seeing it played out in real life. All the best to those who formally quit it, though!

Its so bad for you. Its a very complicated issue because it plays a really significant role in our culture.
