Used Trucks vs: New Trucks

Seems like the price on used trucks are inflated these days. For a couple examples,
2015 F150, 150k miles, $30,000
2018 F150, 107k miles, $38,000
Spend $15,000 more and get a new one?

Seems stupid high.
I paid less for my 2017 F150 new.

Prices are inflated for sure but the market is determining the price. We can laugh at them but someone is paying those prices or almost every used truck on the market wouldn't be like that.

I don't need a truck for work, rarely tow anything but I use my bed a lot. I'll probably downsize with my next one. Maybe a used Colorado or Taco. I'm not paying 58k for an XLT.

My brother had a Taco and hated it. Said it was too small and he would never own another one. I agree with him after using it for a while. Don’t pull worth a shite and is a turd in the power department. Interior cab is too small and so is that tiny arse little bed.
I think they are made for children.

Sounds like you were expecting the Tacoma to be a full sized truck.

The used truck market had been a mess for 10 years

You can get a 6' bed on the current ones. That's longer than my crew cab bed now. Our kids are just about grown so I don't really care about rear seat room anymore, or at least I won't when I'm in the market again.
I'd buy a Corolla and just deal with it before I paid what the new full-sized cost now

I'd rather just stay with my gay little car than a Tacoma. Too small and they're pretty overpriced for what they are.

New truck is always the answer unless you cannot afford it.

I've seen some XLTs with full screen and near Lariat trim from 2018 for $28k with mileage from 29k-63k.

That's on you and your brother for not checking it out beforehand and expecting something from a Taco it wasn't designed for. My BIL was thinking about one for a while and I told him "you're 6'4 and haul a lot of material often, this is the wrong truck for you". Hell I'm 6'1" and I"m cramped in my 1st gen Tundra - I feel downright claustraphobic in a Taco, but then a V8 and 6' bed were requirements for me so I never bought a Taco but they're still great trucks for what they are.

Pulled up my local FB Marketplace...2017 4wd Tundra 132K miles for $30,615 (at a dealership). 4 Door with leather and lift kit. There will be even cheaper options out there from individuals.

Not sure where you’re looking and what trims are included but I can find a used 2021 Lariat with 40k miles for the low $40’s and a new once lists for $70k. That’s a big difference for 40k miles.
Both are too expensive though.

They are great trucks. But when I test drove it, it had a worse turning radius, gas mileage, towing capacity than an f150, and the price difference on the two on the lot was a rounding error.
So I drive a 2017 f150 XLT with the 3.5L. I understand that I’ll never be “cool.”

Even if that was a 4x4 Platinum that 15 is ridiculously priced
