The root system of Johnson grass requires so much food storage that frequent mowing will easily kill it. I understand farm scenarios are very different.

Just to set the record straight- roundup is still available. I sell it in 2.5s and 265 gal totes. I have 20,000 gals on hand if you need some. And it’s not the Chinese generic crap at tractor supply

It no longer kills Johnson grass in my area. Used to kill it dead, but now, won’t even turn it yellow.

For glyphosphate resistant grasses use Clethodim EC. Rate: 1oz per gal of water, but will also need to mix it with an oil as well. Mineral oil (1 oz per gal) will work. It's a post emergent herbicide and will take longer to work. Usually it is turning yellow after 3 weeks.

Note: cleothdim ec can be sprayed on many vegetables to kill grass, per label. DO NOT SPRAY near corn, it will kill it. Corn is in the grass family.
