Fwiw doing a cold shower by yourself with no peer pressure is really impressive.
For cold plunge once you're in it's binary (can't really cheat a pool like I would in shower) AND it's public so people see your reaction and the shame of getting out quickly would be worse than staying in. It's like a stoic competition to see who can be the least reactive
