All per Koki Riley’s Twitter

Koki Riley
quote:

At his radio show, Jay Johnson just said that the team won’t have any cell phones around the field or in the locker room “for a very long time.”

“(Phones aren’t) going to make anybody a better player, and it's not going to make us a better team.” #LSU

quote:

Despite walking 11 batters, Johnson said he was satisfied with #LSU’s performance on the mound Thursday against Arkansas.

He thought they executed the game plan relatively well despite the disadvantage they had on paper heading into the game.

quote:

Johnson said he left The Box at 2:12 a.m. after last night’s loss. #LSU

quote:

Johnson just said that Jaden Noot threw to hitters today at practice and is “just about ready to go.” #LSU

quote:

Johnson said that Jake Brown hurt his knee during his start against Florida. #LSU

Damn. Think about how absolutely awful the phone situation has to be for this to be a resort of CJJ’s.

I mean he knows he’s coaching young TikTok addicts and yet even with all the leeway that I’m sure he has given, these top top athletes are so unaware of themselves that he’s having to play mean ole grandpa to get a modicum of what attention span they have. That’s nuts yall.

I thought the same thing. I don’t think I’ve ever heard of that above the high school level.

Him going this far makes me think that people got caught having phones in the dugout or during games or something. I don’t think he would be banning phones from the locker room just because he thinks guys are on Instagram too much.

I'm not really on socials a lot. Does anyone know if the players online presence is overboard?

Maybe this forces the team to actually interact with each other. Don’t blame him, they’ve given him no choice but to do this.

I took away (from his presser) that he will basically process anybody and everybody if they don’t get in line after the season

My guess is the phone thing isnt because its as much of an issue as him going a bit overboard trying to change the culture. I highly doubt the players are looking at their phones during meetings

This is one of those small details that should never have to be a concern. You know the season is just derailed if we are worried about phone use in a locker room. This looks bad on the coach and players. Holy moly, sad that we can’t even have to great back to back seasons in any sport on this campus.

Number 7 and #8 needs to quit making baseball shows on Tiger Gold and spend more time in the cages

There are several players that will not be on the team next year. Players that will have played a lot of ball.

So a loss in the Elite 8 following a National Championship in basketball is not a great back to back? You must have a really high bar.

While everyone focuses on the phone situation, this excites me.

Curious what Brown's knee injury is. Hope he can come back sooner than later.

As someone who works in education and has a teenager, I can say that kids today are totally addicted to their phones. If you want to know how bad it is, imagine the biggest drug addict you can and multiply their addiction by 10 and you are getting close! They absolutely cannot function without them!

#7 and #8 have the two best On base percentages on the team.

Give it a few Series, this team will improve over time. Too much talent. Jay Johnson knows what he's doing. After a National Championship, when you lose what we lost. I don't care who comes in, we got some players back, but still...tough come back nearly as good with the teams we have to play. We'll be alright, just won't be dogpiling in Omaha, but this team will get better.
