I don’t care about the Rey movie, but I can’t help but be interested in James Mangold’s upcoming Star Wars movie set thousands of years before the movies about the first person to wield the Force. It was recently announced they hired the writer of the prison arc in Andor to write the movie.

I think there definitely was as a way to make Ray powerful and believable.

Using the force is like pitching.

some people have natural talent.

But just because you can throw hard doesn’t mean you’re going to be painting corners or throwing nasty breaking balls day 1.

So hey maybe give his insane connection to the force but make her wild till she can harness it. If you need her to pull the lightsaber out of Kylo Ren’s hand do it, but have to go flying wildly behind her. don’t just have it shoot right into her hand.

then there is the other explanation that hey, maybe the force is using her and not the other way around. and it would be cool to see this connection and her power diminish once the force has used her to do whatever it was trying to do.

obviously that’s not what happened.

What they should have done from Episode 8. Rey discovers her powers far more quickly than any jedi before her. She becomes too powerful, cant control the force. Loses her struggle with the dark side, has to make a decision to continue to live on as a super powered sith or save the galaxy by rediscovering the last bit of good within her and sacrificing herself

Not bad

Yes

It’s a character arc that has been told countless times and works.

This. Separate material. No connection to the 9 skywalker films

Do someting in the Knights of the Old Republic era. Keep light sabers, the froce, light/dark side, etc. No fan service. No cameos.

There's a reason Rogue One was one of the best star wars movies (even with the fan service..CGI leah was bad but I think I give a pass to the vader scene). Same with Andor, which has to be the best Disney Plus series.

George Lucas specifically said that Star Wars was the Skywalker FAMILY saga.
quote:

It's [Star Wars] a family soap opera, ultimately. We call it a space opera, but people don't realize it's actually a soap opera. It's all about family problems—it's not about spaceships." - George Lucas

Rey is not, and has never been a part of that opera. In fact, her film series killed off all the Skywalker family members

Who cares at this point?

Star Wars has the bold strategy of catering to the smallest % of its fans. AKA gays, and minorities. I wonder why their numbers/reviews suck. MAKE IT LAME

$20 bucks says it will be set on Tattooine and the first person to wield the force will be a child. Disney can't help themselves.

Agree on the fact that I actually like Daisy. She was great with what she was given. The problem is the forcing of Rey as the franchise backfired. She was uninteresting and never at risk of failing. Little girls didn't flock to Star Wars for Rey....they did however break the gender barrier with The Mandalorian, and it wasn't just because of Baby Yoda. If they ever had an actual vision and put together a story that made sense and entertained people, the sky is the limit. But the character came from arse. So arse is what we will probably get.
