This is true; however, the cap situation keeps them from being able to do a hard reset. They can't dump bad contracts because it would force the hit in a single year. At a minimum, we are probably looking at a 3-year window of allowing aging vets retire, letting some potential starters walk because the market prices us out, and strategically moving on from some of the other bad contracts.

"Run it back" mentality predictably delayed this and screwed the Saints.

The Falcons did it right by trading Matt Ryan, letting go of vets and getting a ton of cap space after a couple years of suckage with bad QBs. Now they're going to try to compete with a retooled defense and a good QB. Of course it's the Falcons so they'll probably screw it up.
