That doesn’t sound like the type of guy that will try to bend the team over a barrel and say max or nothing

Its about the money bro, it always is, especially when someone says it isn't.

This is a business, he should get the bag

Someone needs to teach this dude about negotiating. If Griff doesn’t give it to you, he’s going to waste it elsewhere.

Love Trey and his attitude, but… It may not be all about the money right now, but one day soon, it will be.

That said BI is eligible for 4 years / $200M. What is Trey max possible?

The pelicans seem like they are doing a great job being a "farm system team" to the NBA.....

Hopefully they can lock down Murph, but he's definitely a guy that if he leaves he will flourish.

This isn't complicated.

There's already the precedent with PJ Washington as well as Cam Johnson, two very similar players to Trey.

Cam got 4/$95, making $25M in year 1 which was almost 19% of the cap.
Cam is a career 39% 3 point shooter through 5 years, and is a better shooter and defender than PJ.
PJ got 3/$46M, making $16M in year 1 which was 12% of the cap.
PJ's shooting has been going down since his first 3 years where he was at 38% from 3. He was 35% last year, and 32% this year.

Trey is a lot closer to Cam than he is PJ.

19% of the cap is $26M/yr for the first year.
4/$105 is about the most Trey should be getting.

I am sure his agent does not agree.

I’d offer him 4 years $80 million. That honestly a fair contract for his first deal. $20 million per year is a win-win for both player and team for where he’s at as a player.
