I moved to the suburbs in Houston but there were more factors than just schools. Better job market (when I was working) and economy.
The schools in just about every suburb of Houston are better than Denham Springs, Walker, or Gonzales.
I have a little bit more freedom now since I am self-employed, but I still choose to send my kids to public school.
