modern day Hollywood and The Message has actually caused me to enjoy older movies that address race issues less. i always loved Remember the Titans, but now when I watch movies from this and previous eras, even though they work racial subplots into them in a fairly believable and not super obnoxious style, my 2024 warped brain is so easily triggered by this stuff that I just get aggravated. i guess partially because i see it now as like the early stages of what i now know Hollywood would become. i dont know, whatever.

that said, in a vacuum, Remember the Titans is a great fricking movie.

Dang...just did a little research on Gerry Bertier. In the 1971 season, Bertier had 42 sacks and his tackles for loss caused RBs to lose a total of 432 yards.

Other fact that I noticed: While Boone won state in 1971, he only made the playoffs 1 more time before he was fired in 1979.
