On the other hand, 49 per cent of participants did not believe a civil war in the next five years is likely to occur, and 20 per cent responded not likely at all.

The data comes from a survey of 1,105 voters and found that women, younger adults, and non-white Americans were more likely to believe a civil war could erupt within five years.

Interesting, yet the media portrays "Civil War" advocates as middle aged white men

This comes amid increasing support for secession among certain states, with 36 per cent of Alaskans wanting to leave the USA, according to a YouGov survey of 35,000 people.

Texas was the second highest on the list, with 31 per cent, followed by California (29 per cent) and New York (28 per cent).

Best.Possible.Solution

Decentralization of power and a return to Federalism.

No wars need to be fought.

Let NY be NY, Cali be Cali, Texas be Texas and other States figure out where they want to be.

This is the CORRECT answer.

A return to Federalism, as the Founding Fathers originally intended.

A CWII in America would not be NOWHERE like CWI of the 1860s. There was the Blues and the Grays. It was very easy to distinguish between each other.

If there is ever, God forbid, a CWII in America it would be more like the Spanish Civil war. Untold horrors, suffering, murders, rape, private militias, gangs/raiders plundering, burning, looting...

Many would die in the first few days/weeks, the elderly, the sick and infirmed from the lack of food, water and medical supplies and treatments.
Think of all the masses on government welfare, elderly relying on Social Security.
How many can survive bitter cold harsh winters, long hot summer days and nights?

There are so many 'soft targets' in the US its scary.

Sabotage of critical infrastructure: dams, electrical generating power plants, water supplies poisoned, medical and food supplies cut off, fuel such as diesel, gasoline, propane, natural gas.
Grocery stores will be looted, within hours,

The list can go on and on.

Every time I read or hear of something along these lines, I think of the words of Benjamin Franklin 'A Republic, if you can keep it.
