These things are such a ridiculous circle jerk.
They should only be given to regular civilians who preform extraordinary acts of courage or achievement, like that pizza delivery guy who ran into a burning house to save three kids.
It's also noteworthy that when a Republican gives them to an athlete or celebrity, the media flips out but when Obama gives them to Bruce Springsteen and the rest of his Spotify playlist they squeal with delight.

Agree.
No one who has ever been elected to an office above county/parish commissioner should be eligible for a Medal of Freedom.
