Watching these 4 Western Conference teams currently playing, one thing is for certain... If we get Garland or Murray, we're still miles away from being on the level of these teams.

That’s why we need Trae…

since i enjoy playing with the trade machine:

Hawks get Jalen Suggs and 2 future 1st from Pels

Magic get CJ McCollum

Nets get BI and Herb Jones

Pels get Dejounte Murray, Mikal Bridges, S&T Claxton,
27 Nets firsts (Nets or Suns), Magic future 1st and some 2nds.
Send Larry and 2nds to Charlotte for Nick Richards for a slightly bigger backup big to Claxton.

Murray/Bridges/Trey/Zion/Claxton
Jose//Hawkins/Dyson/Naji/Ryan/Richards/draft pick

That puts us right at the cap line, not tax line but cap line, with 12 players, and that's me giving Naji $8M/yr and Jose $6M/yr. That easily allow us to pay Trey next year, and Mikal the year after that.

While I think we are giving up a good bit here, i think the fit is exactly what we want around Zion.
Murray and Bridges take 7 3's a game. Trey takes 8. They are all excellent C&S 3 point shooters, and they all can score when run off the line. Those 3 are going to take close to 25 3's a game playing off Zion. If we actually play Hawkins, getting 35-37 attempts a game should be easy, and if we found a big who could shoot getting to 40 would be realistic. Bring Karlo over and sign Dario Saric to a deal (both are from Croatia). I think bringing Karlo over helps sign Saric, and Saric helps Karlo's developement and adjusting to America.

and defensively, it sucks losing Herb, but Murray had more deflections than him and Dyson this past year. He's a disruptive defender. Mikal is a legit lock down defender. Trey impressed me with how he defended SGA. They are all good rebounders.
Claxton is a great rim protector and Zion's defense improved dramatically over the year.

I think that team still lacks a killer closer on the perimeter, but if Zion takes that next MVP level step, then it takes so much pressure off Murray/Bridges/Trey to have to create on their own late in games.
