It is what it is. Got a natty in 2023 so no one is on the hot seat. This team just wasn't ready to play this year.

The hot seat talk is stupid. He did everything he could to put a pitching staff together in year 1 and got us to a game away from a super and then last year a natty. He’s sucked this year. Lets pump the brakes. He’s got 2 more years before a hot seat is even possible

He is not the guy. Many will disagree, and that's cool, but he isn't the guy. This team can be better. Alot better. He is soft and not a strong leader and his team is showing it.

So what about next year? Right now, they won't even have the talent this team has. Don't forget, at Arizona he went two straight years without a regional appearance, and would likely have been three if not for COVID. Are LSU fans going to be okay with that if it happens? Does one CWS win get you that kind of pass?

The team is ready to play. The margins between winning and losing were tommy white missing a base and milazzo having an error.

This team has very little baseball awareness and pays very little attention and effort to do the little things right. Practically all of the players have gone dain bread at critical times that have cost games. At some point when it consistently occurs it has to fall on the head guy. Sure, a mistake here or there happens but I see mental mistakes damn near EVERY game. Even wins look ugly at times. Jay Johnson has to take a lot of responsibility because of the frequency of mistakes. There was absolutely NO improvement from the first game to the last one. You cannot point to just one player. This is a TEAM of screwups! That’s on CJJ, period!

Jay won the natty with the crew of studs that PM recruited most of them were not Jays recruits.

He got. Late jump in the portal because he was the last one standing it’s not easy buddy! He’s stinging it together late but it’s hard to be perfect when margin you have no margin of error ! It’s going to be hard because of the hole they are in ! Best out the pen didn’t get it done tonight is what it is!

I would drill fundamentals in to them until that word made them throw up.

As I pointed out in the other thread. What about Florida? They were in the championship game and a preseason top 3 team this year. If we didn’t blow that one game with them I believe they are behind us in the standings. They actually have a far worse overall record than we do. And he is a top 5 coach over the past decade. Should he be on the hot seat? No. Neither should Jay.

Point is a down season can happen to anyone off a championship-like season. Save the concern for if it happens again.

I think Jay would admit this might be his worst year as a coach.

Seemed none of the moves worked and almost none of the guys we needed to step up did so and the ones that did step forward took too long.

Good news is our recruiting was strong, we can work the portal to fill gaps.

I’m slightly concerned that next year might be bad as well.

PM won a natty decided to snooze for a year and then the next year it got worse and then we got better.

So there is a chance next year is another stink year and then we are back rolling.

JJ didn’t snooze and take off so maybe it’s just a one year blip.

His defenses are consistently bad

His pitching is always mid at best unless he has a transcendent talent

But what’s the most disappointing are offense and culture. The construction of this offense is extremely flawed. Recruiting and development.

His culture is soft minded which is the worst thing you can say about a team in sports.

Saban is the GOAT because complacency wasn’t in his culture, he kept his teams hungry. This team tasted the titty nectar last year and came back soft AF this season

Quick question for all the diehard baseball guys? So if Lsu has about the same kind of year next year, will the Jay believers/supporters still consider him elite? Or will the excuses still be the same? From his resume I believe he is a good coach, but not elite at all. If he misses getting to a regional next year, are yall gonna still think he's elite?

Jay blew the beginning of sec play
That’s where the season was lost
Had they been more competitive first five series they are not scrambling the last four weeks
