re: First baseman had wrong foot on the bag restricting his ability to stretch for the throw

Unlike a routine grounder to another infield spot, on that play with a throw coming from behind the runner down the 1st base line, the 1st baseman is supposed to square up to the catcher on either the outside or inside of the bag and give them a target/throwing lane.

Pretty standard stuff. Jones did what he was supposed to do.
