I agree this is fake but why would anyone take the time and effort to stage this?

Social media. It's all about clicks and views to get traffic and monetize it.
I read an article not too long ago about a guy who has become a very successful business man renting out studio setups by the hour that look like planes and other things to social media people/influencers so that they could use them for things like this.
I'll see if I can find the article again.
ETA - this isn't the one I read, but it might be similar...
