That specific series that’s being removed has not increased 78% since Sept. 2023. The actual average price has been falling.

Where was the outrage in 2010 over these coffee prices?

Also, series get removed, updated, etc all the time in the BLS. I doubt you’ll find an old typewriter listed in it, but you’ll find a computer.

Actually, that is the one that is remaining the one that is being removed is:

Series ID 717312 Coffee, 100%, ground roast, 13.1-20 oz. can, per lb. (453.6 gm)

I think I figured out why. I went through the hundreds of canisters of coffee listed on Walmart and only 3 of them were within 13.1 and 20 ounces the vast majority were larger and some were smaller. One of the ones I found was a chicory blend which doesn't count anyway and 2 were expensive specialty products that wouldn't be used either. I think the reality is that coffee is rarely sold in cans of that size anymore assuming Walmart is a reasonable representation of the market. Not the API is very specific so for example 16oz bags would not be used in the above series.

Nonsense. That isn't what Stout's thread implies.
