A career criminal getting justice vs a preteen that was failed by everyone around him isn't a distinction some posters don't want to make itt. But hey we know why.
This baw is likely in a lot of trouble. In concealed carry classes, at least half of the course is devoted to telling you not to shoot someone under nearly all circumstances. They show a lot of videos of people who had their life ruined even when it was a legally justifiable shoot. Lost their job, tied up in court for years, civil judgements they would never be able to pay, many end up divorced from the stress. Basically, the litmus test should be that you aren’t walking out of that unless you pull the trigger, so you’ll have to deal with the likely consequences but it’s better than being dead. Unless your life is truly in danger, it’s far better to let a criminal walk with even a few thousand dollars worth of stuff.

Except that isn't even close to a reasonable litmus test unless you are in some anti-2A shithole state. In Louisiana, which has Castle and SYG doctrines, the standard is reasonable fear of serious bodily harm or a forcible felony. If you as much try to punch somebody through an open car window, they can justifiably shoot you and they will walk. Civil lawsuit? Not going to work if SYG doctrine is invoked and definitely not against a CCW holder once new laws go into affect.
