Sounds like whatever controls the defrost timer has crapped out.
thats what im thinking, but my eyes are too bad to read schematics and i tried getting it to show the codes yet all i can do is cause it to go into some form of control panel lockout BS
trouble is, lots of fridges have 4-5 circuit boards and it could be any one of them that is not sending signals to the defrost circuit board or causing it to turn off the system. the troubleshooting i found says you need to take millivolt readings on different plug pins on the boards to see which of the many boards isnt sending the right signals to let it run.
i cant seem to find much on youtube about something being a common issue that says its always this part or that part like i was hoping.
im old and i just cant do it anymore, or i would put it in the garage as a fix it project, but im just gonna pay them $50 to haul it to the dump. (hazardous waste disposal fee)
from what i have been reading, it seems to be that with a samsung, once you change out one circuit board, the others soon go out as well, until you have to replace them all, and each time it is at least $150-$200 to buy another circuit board.
