I assume you mean signed out of high school and not juco/portal??

Guidry, while not elite, is able to get outs. I’m hoping Cam turns into what we want him to.

Jay doesn't develop. He recruits, sets a random lineup, then recruits some more. He was recruiting Holman in Omaha last year. His favorite day for recruiting is on Sundays during SEC play.

Some analyst on SEC Network or something pointed out just because you transfer doesn't mean you don't keep developing.

What they did with Skenes was incredible. He was great before, but they turned him into a monster. He deserves credit for making him a pitcher only.

I understand you are asking about Freshmen, but he still deserves credit for what they did with the pitching last season as well as the lack of pitching in his first season at LSU. Winning 17 SEC games without a legit SEC caliber starter. Just imagine when he gets more elite pitchers.

At Arizona many of his best pitching commits ended up going pro. He will have a better opportunity at LSU getting these guys to campus.

Last season Shores looked to be the real deal, but he got injured.

Jay signed 8 pitchers in his first freshman class

1. Guidry - has improved
2. Herring - has improved
3. Moffett - has improved
4. Shores - looked great, got hurt
5. Noot - Injured
6. Bronzini - buried
7. Bucknam - buried
8. Primeaux - buried.

Every pitcher that signed with Jay in 22 and is pitching has improved. You can't really fault him for guys like Bronzini and Primeaux who are just too far down the depth chart because of better lefties in Ack, Herring, and Jump.

Just for fun, '21 freshman

1. Lansville - injury, left, never developed
2. Fontenot - injury, left, never developed
3. Dutton - has gotten better, probably peaked as a pitcher with his stuff and command
4. Taylor - Comp pick

Just for more fun, '23 freshman

1. Kade Anderson - is clearly very good and will be a weekend guy next year
2. Cam Johnson - elite stuff, has shown flashes

This probably isn't going how you thought it would go. The only guys who have "Regressed" has pitchers under Johnson have been Hurd, Loer, and maybe Devin Fontenot?

He's had 10 pitchers drafted in 2 years. Will likely add 3-4 more this year.

Grant Taylor
Chase Shores
Gavin Guidry
Aiden Moffet
Griffin Herring

Non freshmen transfers who have developed

Nate Ackenhausen
Paul Gervase
Eric Rezylman
Paul Skenes
Christian Little
Riley Cooper

Guys who were on the roster he developed

Ty Floyd
Garrett Edwards
Will Hellmers

If you try to limit this to freshman only in the transfer portal era, you're being ignorant or just trying to win a stupid argument or both

First, I think most of us will agree that Johnson is not coaching pitchers day to day. Second, if we can agree on that, it must be noted that there have been 3 pitching coaches in 3 years. Third, the fact that Johnson’s first 2 pitching coaches were hired as head coaches at Power 5 programs (including 1 SEC program) is proof that at least 2 Athletic Directors believe that pitchers have been developed at LSU.

Would Little’s development count towards his success since he was bad last year?
