The rest of your post is merely a justification for why the good outweighs the bad. And maybe that's true, but you can't have an honest discussion about tariffs without talking about the positives and the negatives. Pretending the negatives don't even exist is foolish.

If you put a tariff on something, consumers will pay more for that something. It's a tax and it collects taxes from the people who buy that product and the government gets the money. Even Gumbo admits this, he just thinks it's worth it. Maybe it is, maybe it isn't, but you can't claim that tariffs aren't a tax increase on consumers.
