Anyone shopped for a small truck lately? Chevrolet Colorado's are $40k!! And then they keep their value like crazy. No real deals on used ones unless they are packed with miles. If someone could go back and tell the teenager me that it would take $40k to buy an S10 I would never believe it.

They aren’t really “keeping their value”

This is what happens when inflation starts getting out of hand.

If you paid 40K nine years ago and sell it at 40K today, you sold it for its normal value of 20K at the time you bought it

I have been shopping colorados / canyons for nearly 4 years. Ain't found one yet that I would pay 75% of asking price for. Crazy resell value

At this exact moment, the Chevy Colorado/GMC Canyon, the Honda Ridgeline, and the Nissan Frontier are probably the most reliable mid sized trucks you can buy. They aren't horribly priced if you can be careful with options, but they just don't have many discounts either.

A previous generation Tacoma without the turbo motor, that is probably a very safe bet from a reliability standpoint. Those are usually pretty bulletproof, but the new ones have had some embarrassing issues. Not as bad as the Tundra so far, but Toyota's reputation has definitely taken a hit.
