Vehicles definitely last longer now than 80s-90s models. I think the jury is still out on all of the crap we put in recent models (auto start/stop, turbos etc) to meet fuel requirements.

They last longer than early 2000s, 70s and 60s models too.


Turbos have been in vehicles for like 50+ years now with a big jump coming well over a decade ago.

Auto stop/start has also been around in a large percentage of vehicles for well over a decade.

Not to say these things never create an issue in vehicles, but it’s pretty much indisputable that they don’t create the reliability problems that many falsely assume.
