FWIW I got to know some actual Benedictine monks a while back and they would not be down with this speech. They're the most mellow, nonjudgmental people I've ever been around.

Really?
So supporting traditional family values and role of man and wife, respect of God and Life...AND rejection of contemporary gutter-culture, hooking-up, porn, and queerdom is "religious zealotry"?
Sign me up in Harrison Butker's world. (You and his other critics can have our current devolving Sodom & Gommorah demon-world.)

This is against God's Will. What we "want," is not necessarily what we should receive. Our passions, and our desires, should not be the sole driver of outcomes, and we should not go against God's will just to get the thing we want.
The ends do not justify the means. That's a very Catholic belief. And unfortunately, that affects things that seem "good," like IVF or surrogacy. Both are driven by disordered desires... Christians in general, are typically misled by desire, by "happiness," by pleasure and earthly needs. That is the struggle of being Christian, and really living it.
——-
Many years ago I was asked by my Catholic boss if IVF was the right thing. Now it makes sense. What an a-hole.
I can judge a Catholic just as fast as they can judge me.

That I believe. Playing it safe is NOT what God would want from any clergy. No souls get saved that way.
"Non-Judgmentalism" aka moral relativism is actually a big problem. People NEED to know Right from Wrong; Good from Evil; Godly from Sinning.

Imagine actually thinking this lol

Catholicism like various sects of so-called "Protestantism" cab run the gamut of being true Christian mentors.
I suppose it was possible he actually was sincere in his IVF question toward you with respect to Scripture, not holding to any bias. But only you know the level of intent, context and vibe.

Maybe...
But you also happen to believe ALL Christians are clowns and worse. I wouldn't be so condescending given your odd political and social positions.

Interesting.
What constitutes "FULL Holy Roller"?
What is a "hardcore religious type"?
(Are you a Pagan or Atheist?)

I'm chuckling at all the Chiefs fans who are now "quitting on the team" after they literally employed wife beaters the last 5 years.

I concur. Disappointing to see so many posters either not embracing Butker's much needed speech OR their blatant anti-Christian hate.
My impression of Butker: THAT is a man, saying what a real leader of men says to his brothers and sisters -- caring about and mentoring them like they are family. ("Don't follow this gutter Sodom & Gommorrah culture; FOLLOW GOD!")
Total respect for Harrison Butker.
(ZERO respect for his detractors here.)

Your above anti-Christian assessment is pure delusion.

Anti IVF is pretty far up there.

For this country? Being anti IVF, saying God is speaking through you, and other items.

Episcopalian, though relatively lapsed.
