I think its a no brainer to just do a retractable roof, maybe its just not feasible without a complete demolition.
It is like a tinted window for lack of a better way to describe it, but it doesn't completely close the roof. The material is proven to reduce temps inside by like 10-12 degrees. Should be a really good improvement while keeping an open air stadium.
