“We’ve had floods and high water, but this is a different animal. Pretty much devastation,” Huval said. “The roof of my hotel is gone, and it probably has to be gutted.”

The restaurant might be able to open in a few months, Huval said, but he worries whether repairs and reopening are worth it. Repairs to the hotel will take much longer.

“We’ve been here since 1948, but something like this can put you out of business,” Huval said.
