Boomers

Well Boomers have been the ones who paid the most in to social security They paid the SS for the Greatest Generation, and the Silent Generation.

Boomers currently pay over 50% of all federal income taxes and are only 20% of the population.

Boomers weren't the ones who voted in SS. That was the so-called "Greatest Generation" and it was the "Silent Generation" that expanded it.

People like Pelosi and Biden (Both Silent Generation)

How can people not know that we didn't even have a boomer President until Bill Clinton in 1992, then W, and then Obama. Biden is Silent Gen and Trump is a Boomer.

Biden is the 6th youngest Senator ever to take office in January 1973 at 30 years and 1 month( Silent Generation)

Boomers didn't even become the majority of Congress until the 1990s

Hmmm...so people want a fair share of what they paid in to their entire lives, but receive much less than if they had just invested all that money in the stock market all those years?
exactly. I was given no choice to participate or not, and they need to pay me back in spades. Similar to taxes in general…I want as much of a refund from the mandated theft of my wages.

Good Lord!

If SS "is an entitlement because your average recipient takes out far more than they put in," WTF is an IRA or investment portfolio?

My Stock Portfolio ROI must make me an entitlement emperor, at least as measured in your terms.

WAKE UP PEOPLE!

I’m shocked boomers want more but honestly SS is a fricking Ponzi scheme and we are all getting fricked.

They want it because they have been paying in to it since 1960 and would like some of their money back

Negative.
Each gen pays its way in SS. Spin that fact as you'd like. But it remains fact.

The 14th A actually says otherwise IAW with the unique debt instrument conversion of SS contributions.

I guess I'm in the 44%. I have both but I'm fine with where I am.

What you say doesn't even make sense

In 1940 When SS started paying benefits there were 149 people paying in for each person receiving benefits.
Today it had been reduced to 2.6 paying to each beneficiary.

All shortfalls to SS come from the General Fund

Should it go to illegals?

I'm 100% in the 44% group.

Factually though, it wouldn't matter if the 44% group was 94%. The Feds don't GAS about your desire or mine to pare down SS.

Why?

Because the premise of paring down is that the retiring American public is the SS beneficiary.

The retiring American public is not the SS beneficiary.
The beneficiary is Uncle Sam.

They’ll never get THEIR money back.

THEIR money was spent years ago to pay for the elderly AT THAT TIME.

What they want is OTHER PEOPLES MONEY (read young people’s money) to pay for THEIR retirement.

Because, again, SOCIAL SECURITY IS AN ENTITLEMENT PROGRAM.

They’ll be gone before I retire, so no. I’d like it gone asap so I can stop wasting money on something I will never sniff.

Let me put it this way. Give me the ability to opt out and I’ll sign the dotted line yesterday.

Stoichiometric biochemistry might not "even make sense" either. Nonetheless, it is a fact.

That is why "contribution amounts" have "evolved" accordingly.

What "shortfalls"?
SS is in surplus. There are no shortfalls for several years.

that is quite literally how it works. The money isn’t set aside for you to use when you retire. That money is paid out to the elderly that need it today.

Did you pick up the misuse of "literally" and a " " from SFP?

No BJ, that is quite literally not how it works.

Every 1¢ contributed to SS is converted to a US Debt instrument, by law.

Don't worry, you'll still have to pay into it..

I've been paying into it for 47 years when I started working at 13.
