In general, I agree with you, but if trump can not take the bait and speak to the people of this country, acknowledge the bias in the questions he is receiving compared to his opponent, and focus on the issues and problems that every day people encounter, he would come out of it looking like someone that understands the issues.
The key is not to have a 2020 or even 2016 type performance. 2016 was great at the time because it was new and counter culture. 2020 all everyone thought about was covid. 2024 needs to be about how poorly the economy has turned out for individual Americans, the crisis at the border, and weakness on the global stage that is leading to conflict all over the world.

Which is precisely what the left wants. Trump should win this election in a landslide, and everyone knows it, especially the left. The only things that could derail it are even more voter fraud than 2020 resulting in another stolen election (and therefore anarchy), assassination, and ignorant white women that will vote on emotion rather than logic.
What better way to paint Trump as the misogynistic a-hole than to have a liberal count moderate it that will certainly entice Trump to be an a-hole. This is clever gamesmanship.
