Technically it’s 10 days and 3-4 hours counting kickoff of MNF through whistle of TNF.

That’s a brutal stretch. Away at the World Champs, short week against a division rival and an even shorter week against your former coach.

Should we just throw the Kansas City game? Let Spencer Rattler and other backups play while the starters rest up and get ready for the Buccs and Broncos.

1. Its very unlikely we beat Kansas City,
2. The division game is the most important game, and
3. We have a chance to beat the Buccs and Broncos and not much of a chance against KC. (Better to shoot for a 2-1 or 1-2 stretch than 0-3.)

Do you say Sunday to Sunday is eight days?

NFL would shite if the Saints started backups on a national telecast.

Kind of early to blame the NFL for the Saints being a shitty team isn’t it?

This is the kind of the out of the box thinking that the Saints coaching staff are unable to execute.

Pulling a stunt like this would invite all kinds of media speculation and Goodell would retaliate in even more diabolical ways.

A week is 7 days, often considered Sunday to Saturday. Including the next/another day would be 8 days. So from one Sunday through another Sunday is 8 days. How is this hard?

A smart coach would start the starters for two series, then put in tha backups. The explanation would be that they are concerned with player safety and are putting players on a 3 game pitch count since the NFL scheduled 3 games in 10 days. This was the most efficient way to implement the pitch count.

I agree with your thinking. Remember when the Saints were 13-0 for the Superbowl run.

Payton rested people and didn’t care about winning the last three games. He took a lot of criticism.

When Payton used “ambush” in the Superbowl, he told Mike Pereira before the play what he was doing right after halftime.

In 2001 Pereira became Director of Officiating for the NFL, succeeding Jerry Seeman, and then was promoted to Vice President of Officiating in 2004.

Pereira retired from the NFL after the 2009 season. In my opinion, I believe Goodell asked Pereira to retire for not successfully finding a way to take the success of “ambush” from Payton.

The Saints saying player safety for taking out starters on a 3 game pitch count would result in suspensions, fines, and the loss of draft picks.

Despite the possibility of Goodell retaliating, I say, why not use your suggested strategy.

Other teams have done it before, but “Muh” player safety goes out the window when teams are forced to do it.

How hard is it to schedule a bye week before a thursday game?

This isn't rocket science.

the commentary about looking out for players safety is pretty disingenuous when you pile on a lot of games like that in short time period.

It's all about revenue to the league and I don't know who in the hell they are trying to kid.

They cannot do this without the consent of the players association, so don't lay this all at the feet of the league. All of them are money hungry.

Just hope after the 3rd game in 10 days… we have no serious injuries ….

that could lose a player for the season or considerable time/weeks.

Roger the Clown proved that he was a liar, a coward, and a hypocrite years ago. This double standard on player safety is just another example.

Some teams that plays a Thursday without the bye week in between will play at minimum 3 games in 11 days. It's ridiculous when you pile on a lot of games like that in short time period.
