I know with some Toyota engines. It has more hp and better mpg with 92 over 87. The Tacoma even says it in the manual.
Generally higher octane is only necessary with high compression engines. But most cars can adjust timing based on octane.
Still if you have a super charger or turbo 93 is better best yet is to run e85 if possible. Some cars you need to modify things to take pure e85.
