I just watched it. Some amazing things.
The Buddhist sculptor who, while trying to sculpt the biblical stories on the facade and wondering about the original architects intent, converts in the process.
"He teaches me and helps me solve problems. For me he is not dead."
The original architect, knowing that he will never live to see completion. builds very detailed models as guides for posterity.
The communist constantly try to blow up the church during the Spanish Civil War. They Don't succeed. But they do destroy the models which leads to construction ceasing. as architects of the day could not figure out how such a thing could be built.
By happenstance. A young Cambridge Architectural student on a backtracking trip happens onto the site and is given access to the rubble which had been then models. The design was so complex, he couldn't figure it out. Finally. he turned to advanced aeronautical design software to recreate the vision. Then building could resume.
In 1926, a tram driver ran over the architect. Mistaking him for a beggar. he simply rolled him over to the side of the road. climbed back on the tram, and kept driving.
“My client is not in a hurry. God has all the time in the world.”
