A couple of years ago I was about to have to buy jeans with a 36" waist. Felt really disgusted with myself so I started making sustainable lifestyle changes. Mainly cutting back on drinking and snacking. Also started prepping all my work food on Sundays so I'm not eating out. I logged everything I ate for a while and it was pretty eye opening. I was taking in a lot more calories than I thought I was. I'd never quit going to the gym I had just let my eating go out of control. Currently wearing 30" waist jeans and my abs are visible in the morning. Still have about 10 lbs to go to hit my goal. It was slow but all the changes I made are things that I can easily maintain. Lost about 30 lbs total.

I'm about 30 days into this process. Got up earlier to make some eggs for breakfast. Meal prepped burger patties for lunch. Eat veggies, brown rice and chicken/pork chop/steak for dinner. Protein powder after my workout to make sure I get my protein each day. Working out every day. I'm down 12 pounds (goal is to lose 35 pounds over the long haul) but I feel much better and my body is starting to change.

I usually have a cheat night on Friday or Saturday night where I eat what I want and have some beers with buddies. I would probably be losing the weight faster if I didn't do that but I need a lifestyle change and not a diet that I hate. So it is working for me.
