Ya'll remember when O told people to contact Ponamksy about NIL?

I knew at that exact moment we were doomed.

TAF and LSU T&F Officials Association are the only donation organizations that are "run" by LSU on paper.

Bayou Traditions isn't.

They have a partnership with LSU Sports Properties, but it is not run by the school.

I’m not sure who runs it

Pirate King and Tiger Ree. That's why we are missing out on prospects. They are funneling directly to Orgeron.

Need to clean house in that department and start over. Little to no marketing and most LSU fans doesnt even know it exists.

It's being managed by a company called Ascend Fundraising Solutions based in New York and Toronto, or at least it was as of earlier this year. The only reason I know this is because I "won" the monthly raffle a few months after joining and the contact person worked for them in New York. I won two tickets to a Woman's Bball game and was also supposed to get a basketball autographed by the Woman's team. They sent me the tickets, but I never got the basketball. Emailed them several times with no response and eventually gave up. Hopefully someone local is taking over because who knows how big a cut the fundraising company is keeping.

Wasn’t that the original collective that failed and was revamped as Bayou Traditions?

We have now Austin Thomas, which should bode well for us. We were behind, but we’ve caught up and will continue to grow.

They are all third party. None of them are in house. The payments can’t come directly from the schools. There has to be some kind of buffer there if in name only.

Not run internally by LSU, usually it's an external company not associated with LSU or coaches. The external company is the Administrator and partners with the school. I have seen former players run the external company. I think for Bayou Traditions, the Administrator may be MatchPoint Connections, but I'm not 100% sure.

Do people still not understand that NIL is not supposed to be directly connected to the university? NIL collectives are autonomous though they obviously seek input from the coaching staff of any particular sport. They cannot be run by LSU employees and I am fairly certain the people running it cannot be family members of LSU coaches, staff, or faculty either.

That is the rule & intent, but I’m not sure what the rules are regarding LSU & the “official NIL collective” of LSU Athletics.

It definitely seems like Austin Thomas is somewhat involved with NIL payments & roster management as the GM.
quote:

“For us, it comes down to, how do we strategically want to allocate our NIL package?” Thomas said. “That comes mostly in the retention of our roster. What happens is, you have to be very careful to not get too far out in front of yourself, where the value of a player or certain players on your roster becomes so inflated that you can't catch up with the rest of your roster, and all of a sudden it becomes a runaway train and it's not sustainable.”

“There's a bigger picture to all of this,” Thomas said. “It doesn't come down to one player, right? It comes down to a holistic, comprehensive approach that if you mismanage the funding and you go ahead and you overspend in some areas on your team, how do you come back and build the rest of your roster around that, because word goes around, right? All of a sudden, you can have a lot of issues.”
