38K. It's just like politicians these days. They just blatantly lie to your face about everything and try and gaslight people.

No way a person could live a middle class lifestyle on $38K in LA, or $35 in MS. Defining "middle class" as above 2/3 of the median, when you live in a poor state gives very poor results.

I assume they mean lowest middle class?

38k even in Arkansas is going to hurt

and if you got a family to support, good luck

Hawaii has a lot of poor people - aka the native population.

That just means that your tent has the optional rain fly and you can afford to put an air mattress in it.

Also in the article.

Middle-class income range: $37,557 to $112,670

That's a hell of a spectrum. I can guarantee $37,557 is nowhere close to middle class. That is barely getting by.

Guess I’m the wealthy in NC, doesn’t feel that way.

Looking forward to Biden raising my taxes and telling me I don’t contribute enough.

I think it's determining median income and that might be skewed by welfare. La. has a TON of people on welfare and that might enter as ZERO income driving the median down to a level that it actually represents 'lower middle class' lifestyle.

We're well above that but you have a few cities along the coast that pump up those numbers. LA, SF, SD & San Jose markets don't reflect where I'm at at all.

If we made 61k things would be very tight for sure but not really poor. We were poor growing up. There's no Kraft Mac n' cheese with hot dogs for dinner, sugar sandwiches (literally just white bread and sugar), patches on torn pants, shoes from Payless and living in really bad neighborhoods going on here even at 61k.

I used to go to my best friend's house often for dinner because they actually had real homemade food.

Most of these have a middle class range that is 100k away from each other.

Big fricking difference between 50k and 150k.
