I've only had scant experience on being a juror. But I recall that jurors are barred from using any expertise in deliberations - they are required to stay within the bounds of how the case was presented and defended by the attorneys.
They can use their own mentality in evaluating the logic/truth of whatever they heard - but cannot try to influence any other juror based on their own expertise.
Been a long time - memory not so good. could be a lot of nuances in what the real facts are
if anyone can update that - I'd genuinely appreciate it.
