Attorney General Ken Paxton

@KenPaxtonTX

Governor Abbott has just pardoned Sergeant Daniel Perry after a unanimous recommendation by the Texas Board of Pardons and Paroles. Americans across the country have been watching this case in Texas and praying for justice after BLM riots terrorized the nation in 2020. Our right to self-defense is enshrined in the Constitution. Soros-backed prosecutors like Jose Garza do not get to pick and choose the rights we have as Americans, and I am relieved that justice has prevailed.

Should have never been found guilty. Cases like this are why Americans are losing more and more faith in the justice system.

It's all about sending a message and putting fear into anyone that might follow in his footsteps.

They want people to be afraid to strike back. If people starting to strike back then it'll spread like wildfire.

Governors need to start acting sooner. This took way too long

Agree. I also don't agree with charging parents for a child's crime.

Just seems like a slippery slope

I could be wrong, but I don't think the Texas governor has unilateral pardon power.

Correct.Abbot asked the pardons and parole board to look at the cae before he was even sentenced. That was the holdup.

It’s more that “jury of your peers” becomes terrifying when your “peers” are from places like Austin, NYC, SF, etc. In addition, everything is so polarized and information is spread on social and on the internet so fast people have biased and skewed “facts” in these cases ahead of time and have to worry about their reputation once off the jury.

It’s a pretty flawed system right now

It should have occurred as soon as the guilty verdict was delivered. Frig Abbott and his desire to be named VP.

Mr. Garza, a Democrat, is currently facing a proceeding that could remove him from office under a new law signed by the governor aimed at limiting the discretion of local prosecutors.

In a statement, Mr. Garza said that the governor and the pardons board had “made a mockery of our legal system” and that they “should be ashamed of themselves.”

This shite pisses me off. Guy is getting removed from office for being corrupt and has the audacity to comment on the legal system

Not the biggest Abbott fan, but the timing wasn't on him. I believe he did come out early on saying he would patdin him. Timing was on the parole board. Don't know why it took so long for them, but seems Abbott did it as soon as they gave the green light.

Timing isn’t on the governor. The process to get it to him takes a while.
