Josh Downs was very undersized for an SEC DT, but he still played at LSU for several years and gave us a lot of solid reps. He weighed all of 270 lbs. He was in the rotation on that vaunted 2011 LSU defense and saw reps when Michael Brockers, Bennie Logan, and company needed a breather or when there were injuries. He wasn’t NFL caliber obviously, but he definitely had a role on our 2011 team.

Huntington could end up filling a similar role on this year’s LSU team if we end up going after him.

I thought we weren’t recruiting him and he wants to play EDGE. I heard he was down to Cal and Tulane.

FWIW, I think we should definitely take him if he’s willing to play DT.

I loved that 2nd team DL with Downs and Lavar Edwards they were both very underrated. Also as an aside Josh Downs wearing #77 looked badass on a DL.
