ESPN is reporting he's been released and heading to the golf course.

It was dark and raining and the officers had their mind on investigating a death. A traffic fatality investigation is very time consuming and requires a lot of measurements, photos and the like. Being a PGA player does not give him special rights.

I mean I don't think he was just driving around right next to a dead corpse on the ground. I'm sure they had cops that were specifically in charge of the entrance to the golf course. Jeff Darlington said that they were instructed to let players in using that entrance. Players navigate through blocked off entrances, roads, etc all the time.

I don't have a problem with him being detained either, but he was arrested and charged with 2nd degree assault.

Once he tried to drive with an officer attached to his car

Side mirrors are attached to cars - not police officers. Sounds like this cop thought he was fricking Rambo and decided to jump on the car

He stopped after too

You don’t have to be a celebrity worshipper to see his position here. Others went past, he’s probably used to driving past closed roads in tournaments, and the whole thing happened quickly in the dark in front of the venue.

Louisville should be working on a joint press statement detailing all the confusion and with both sides giving modest apologies to one another.

Yeah, just a big misunderstanding. Shocked they actually took him in to the station, but sounds like he was in and out in no time. Hopefully they gave him a police escort back to the club.

I mean they charged him with 4 different things, one of which is a felony...

What do you mean before you pass judgement. You've already tried and convicted scheffler in your previous posts. How's the leather from the boot licking taste?

Should Scottie have immediately stopped instead of making the turn? Yes. Is what he did enough to arrest him and take him to jail? I would lean towards no.

The attorneys for the city of Louisville are probably shaking their head this morning asking these cops if they can go just one day without fricking up

Should have been 4th degree assault. Which is reckless physical injury. For 2nd degree, they would have to prove he was intentionally trying to hit the cop.

Definitely a LEO over reach situation on the charge.

Police department should provide a public apology, drop all charges, and fire the cops who did this shite.

it was raining what was his hurry? And a person in a yellow jacket in an area with a lot of red lights on cars turned on would make me think they were a safety official of some sort. Why not roll down the window and talk to them rather than drive off?

The folks are too busy sucking off a rich golfer who probably despise the poor than to understand the potential risks he cause to average folks including pedestrians drivers and officers who are their brother, sisters, dad, uncle etc.
