a lot of red tape to fight in vegas, and everyone wants a piece, before it gets the licenses to be a fight.

Heard a guy with one of the casinos, talking about how much red tape it took to run a fight show in vegas.

70s/80s was the best era

holyfield/bowe/tyson/lewis in 90s was ok but in this day and age the heavyweight divsion sucks and has for years.

You’re the worst…
Ryan Garcia just fought Gervonta Davis there last year

They just had UFC 300 with 20k fans

UFC 303 McGregor vs Chandler 6/29/24

UFC 306 in the Sphere 9/14/24

95% of the sporting public couldn't have told you who was fighting. The heavyweight champion used to be THE premier sporting figure in the world. The smaller divisions were extremely well known. Now? No one has any idea who the heavyweight champion is. I can't. And I'm much more of a sports fan than the average Joe. There's not a single boxer in the world who gets the general public excited.

UFC still calls Vegas home and fights there probably 6+ times per year.

The HW boxers are all based in Europe now. They want to fight there. The Saudis offer more than anyone to get fights ppl actually want to see in boxing.

All of what you said is a product of having pretty much unlimited access to any and all sporting events you want to see at your fingertips.

If boxing isn’t great now then it never was great. The HW champ being THE premier sporting figure was just an illusion
