Ralph Meyer was one of the founders of the soccer league in Baton Rouge. The league had three age groups or 6 teams, 18 total. Everything for the league was purchased at Goudchaux’s. At one time Ralph a buyer for sporting goods at Goudchaux’s. He a good man but very grumpy, he was demoted all the down to a suit salesman at Main Street. The BRSA board voted him out because he didn’t get along with people. Ralph was from Germany, I don’t know about the Holocaust, became a born again Christian and still yelled at customers. Sternberg’ were very loyal and didn’t fire him. He was the only employee at Goudchaux’s who could yell at customers.
