No, it really isn't sad at all.

It was posted here yesterday that Jim had quadruple bypass... I know from experience that's not sad at all.

This is a new beginning really. He'll have new plumbing and probably will be better off than 80% of American males his age.

Two years after my own surgery I feel like I will outlive 95% of my age group. Modern medicine is amazing.

That would be great. I grew up listening to John & Walter. I left LA in 1966 when I entered the Air Force. I'm probably unique in that I've never heard Hawthorne broadcast a LSU game.

I'm sure he hates missing this one. I hope he gets well soon.

Damn, Times Pic saying he'll likely miss the rest of the season. That sucks.

Much to the chagrin of 95% of the Rant and Poliboard.

J/K. Congrats on the successful procedure.

I urge everyone to go get a stress test... even if you feel like you're fit.

Unless Jesus is making an appearance at a Baton Rouge cemetery soon, Mr. Ferguson will not be broadcasting LSU football this Saturday. Now, after being a horses butt for writing that, it would be great to hear John Ferguson again. I just can't imagine what he would think of the Tigers now. And yes, I am gonna miss Hawthorne as well.

Hawthorne is great. I've never understood the criticisms. He makes mistakes when he gets frustrated or excited. I enjoy the vulnerabilities. It's not like they're not corrected within the next five seconds.

We and Louisiana have been fortunate to have two great Jim's, really. Jim Henderson with the Saints is fantastic... the absolute best.

It's not only what he would think of the current Tigers, but what would he think of the advances in technology. Growing up I only recall seeing one or two games a year on TV.

And I wonder if he could understand Les?

Oh yeah, for sure. I'm only 49 but have a Cardiologist I see yearly and have had a few stress tests. Family history. My dad had a quintuple bypass in the late 80's, and I had a scare a few years back which luckily turned out to be musculoskeletal pain mimicking possible heart issues. Hence the reason I was referred to him. Glad I was though. I believe with a family history it's never too early to keep up with these things and have stress tests and whatnot.

All stress tests have been passed with flying colors thank goodness.

ETA: Now if I could just stop eating like I was raised in Louisiana.

Agreed. I remember Ferguson fondly as well but Hawthorne is an iconic voice to me that I will miss greatly. Must suck to be miserable enough to constantly complain about a man like Jim.

I don't need to hear a football genius on the radio, but I thought he was a great voice for the team without being a ridiculous homer. He will be difficult if not impossible to replace.
