Maybe he should have been "fussing" some people in practice.

I'm sure Saban sings Kum-ba-ya with the guys after practice!

Okay, yes that is telling that "he never fussed at us."

Maybe he should have.

But if he would have just evolved with the times and changed his damn offense, with the way he could recruit and hire assistants, he could have gone on with his zany, "player-coach" ways and maybe won another NC or at least a couple more SEC championships.

His stubbornness did him in.

I know it's hard on the players because Les was a nice guy, and they love him.

But you gotta have some tough love sometimes in order to reach your full potential.

The players haven't been held to that standard.

Miles was much more of a GM than he was an Xs and Os type of coach. It worked for a while but when other teams caught up with the talent it was an issue.

"Fussing" with someone? Hate to give the a$$hole from 2 states over ANY credit but have you ever watched him during games? He gives his players that screw up a full metal jacket speech when they reach the sidelines. So clearly a difference in coaching mentality. Be a coach not a buddy!!

Don't you think that perhaps it is their position coav's job to correct them in practice. If Les would have to do that you wouldn't need the position coach.

This "I'm your buddy first, then your coach" comfort these players have won't disappear overnight. A lot of them will be in a rude awakening if a new coach actually yells at them on the sideline for a change. We need a culture change as badly as we needed a coaching change.

Is this the thread where we all draw sweeping conclusions from the comments of an emotional 20-year old?

I'm in.
