I’m currently reading a great sci-fi novel over the holidays and they’re having an issue with the sun dimming due to an energy parasite and to buy time and delay the new ice age while a few astronauts go try to Bruce Willis the situation, scientists back on earth cook off 240 nukes under the ice caps to release a shite ton of green house gases (methane) in order to insulate the earth. They have some old soy climate change expert crying liberal tears over it, great part of the book.

Took a little break from The Plantagenets to finish this one up (I apparently stopped reading it with about 50 pages left, think it may have been when my Mom was sick).

I love the Plantagenets book by Dan Jones. I’ve read it twice.

I'm enjoying it. I think I'm going to pick up an Eleanor of Aquitaine book at some point this year as a result too.

I recommend Time and Chance by Sharon K Penman if you haven't read it. She has a trilogy about Henry II, Eleanor, and their Devil's Brood.

Dan Jones also wrote a book about William Marshall that I enjoyed a lot. So it was focused on the Henry II-Richard time period. Called The Greatest Knight.

Thanks for the note. I’m adding her to my reading list. I love that era of history and love historical fiction. I’ve seen her name but haven’t read her books.

She also has a Welsh Prince trilogy that I highly recommend. When Christ and the Saints Slept is the first novel in her Plantagenet trilogy, covers Empress Maude and Stephen, and is simply first rate.
