Yea it’s a brutal stretch. By that point I was dead anyway so I didnt notice it too much but a lot of people were saying they suffered through it. My bigger gripe is the way the event was handled. Definitely geared to the half. When the two races split off it went from high energy excitement for 6/7 miles to dead silence for 15. They had aid stations still but no cheer sections, no bands, nothing. Also when the two races converged they had cones up dividing the races which was good but you had to go around all of the half runners to get to the aid stations up there. It was just a cluster.

The focus on the bombing made the pre race stuff cool but I was not a fan of the full.

Also annoyed me there was no rhyme or reason to where the aid stations where. Grandmas it’s every two miles on the nose until you get to 18 and then it’s every mile. This they were just randomly put up.

Don’t get me wrong none of this affected my race or anything. It just wasn’t as well thought out as I think a race going on year 24 should be.

3:01 is nothing to be upset about but we know it isn't what you had in mind. Once you've thought about it can you maybe share some ideas on where your training may have been off or what race mishaps may have happened to that lead to a time slower than your goal / time you thought you were prepared for.

i've had the opposite training / race results. for marathons i've always thought i was under trained /not ready and put up better results than expected but for 100 milers I've felt ready and finished very disappointed.
